FAQs

General

What are push/pull poles used for?

Push/pull poles help installers place cables and wires in hard-to-reach areas. They extend overhead or into confined spaces so work can be done from the ground without ladders or lifts.

Who uses these tools?

They’re used by datacomm technicians, cabling installers, electrical crews, and maintenance teams working above ceilings, inside attics, or along long cable paths.

What types of tasks do these poles handle?

They help with lifting, guiding, pushing, pulling, and positioning cables, including long runs that pass through tight or obstructed spaces.

Product Features and Specifications

What makes the Quic Stic® different?

The Quic Stic® is a lightweight lay-up pole built with heavy-duty fiberglass. It extends up to 16 ft, collapses to 6 ft, and uses opposing hooks to place cables precisely. Its twist-locking wedge cams can support a push/pull force of up to 50 lbs.

What makes the QuicStrike™ different?

The QuicStrike™ features a triple telescoping design for extra reach and control. It includes a self-directional “Grabit” hook that lets installers guide cables from multiple angles without repositioning the pole.

How strong are these poles?

Both models are engineered for demanding cable work. The Quic Stic® supports up to 50 lbs of force, making it suitable for lifting or guiding bundles through tight or elevated spaces.

What materials are used in construction?

They use durable fiberglass that resists crushing and holds up under job-site conditions. The hardware and hooks are designed for repeated daily use.

How compact are these tools?

The Quic Stic® collapses to 6 ft for easy transport and storage. The QuicStrike™ collapses similarly, depending on model length.

Installation and Usage

How do you extend the pole and secure it in position?

Sections slide out and secure using twist-lock wedge cams. Once locked, the pole maintains its length while pushing or pulling cables overhead.

Can these be used in tight spaces?

Yes. Their telescoping design and hooked tips help installers reach between joists, above ceiling grids, into crawl spaces, and around obstacles.

Do the hooks work for both pushing and pulling?

Yes. The Quic Stic® uses opposing hooks for two-way control. The QuicStrike™ includes a directional hook that guides the cable along several angles.

Can these poles replace ladders for some tasks?

Yes. They allow installers to stay on the ground for most overhead cable placement, improving safety and reducing setup time.

Safety and Handling

What safety precautions should installers follow?

Keep the pole at least 10 ft (3 m) away from electrical lines. Inspect the fiberglass for cracks before use and avoid forcing the pole beyond its rated load.

Are these poles safe to step on or drop?

The fiberglass construction resists crushing and holds up well to typical job-site handling, but intentional impact or misuse should be avoided.

Can these poles be used outdoors?

Yes, but they should not come near energized lines or be used in wet conditions where slip or shock hazards exist.

Care and Maintenance

How should you store the pole?

Collapse it fully and keep it in a dry place. Refrain from placing heavy items on top of it.

Does the locking mechanism need maintenance?

Wipe dust from the wedge cams and ensure they turn smoothly. Lubricants shouldn’t be used unless specified by the manufacturer.

How do you keep the hooks in good condition?

Check them for bends or wear and clean them if debris collects around the mounting points.
